Boris Johnson’s shock announcements have left plenty of people separated from those they love this Christmas. And whilst we know we have to keep eachother safe, that doesn’t necessarily make it an easy thing to do. Especially if you suddenly have to learn to cook a turkey all by yourself.
Thankfully, we have plenty of tech to keep each other connected - and if nothing else, this year has incredible for innovation that focuses on keeping us all together, even when we’re apart. If you’re worried about what to do for Christmas - we’ve got you covered with a list of our favourite online platforms for remembering what this season is all about - spending quality time with those you love.
This one has been a personal favourite amongst the team here at Camflare this year.
Share a screen online, and everyone can play along from their phones. There are plenty of different games - and they’re all extremely inventive whether they’re prompting you to draw, write, or solve murders… we promise you won’t get bored.
One of the best parts of December is that it’s acceptable to watch lots and lots of Christmas films. At the beginning of the year, we had Netflixparty - a simple chrome extension that meant you could all watch a Netflix show at the same time. But did you know that they’ve now expanded and rebranded to Teleparty to include Disney+, Hulu and HBO?
This means you can laugh, talk over, break for tea, and try to remember where you’ve seen that actor before all together, no matter where you are.
Yes - the online quiz was SO April 2020, but hasn’t it been long enough that it’s time to make a comeback? Why not bring back memories of better times with a nostalgia round that’s personal to your friends or family, or get each member of the group to make their own round?
We love this app
Reface for swapping your face in with musicians and film stars (AND it gives you a 3 day free trial).
If you’re not feeling inspired to make your own quiz, there are plenty to be found online that you can get involved with, such as
this one on eventbrite, bonus points as it’s for charity!
Of course we’re going to include ourselves in this list - after all, we created Camflare with the intention of bringing people together from all over the world.
If you’ve got lots of people you want to catch up with, or people in different timezones, why not set up a link to send in pre-recorded video messages to each other?
The options are endless with this one - if you’re prepared, you can get everyone to record their video links in advance - which will all come through to you on your personal Dropbox - and make a celebration video for everyone to enjoy.
Alternatively, you can record one for yourself and get a link right away to send out to everyone like a round robin. If you want to keep everyone in the loop about how you’re spending your day, you can make it like a video diary to show off your tree decorations, baking wins and fails, and share a thank you for your presents.
It’s also your last chance to get all of this for free - all you need to do to sign up is enter your email address at
camflare.io
We hope this list brings a little magic to your Christmas, and if you have any other ideas please do share!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and hoping for a better New Year.
